articles and interviews

These interviews are important because, although Oesterheld was well respected within the realm of comics, his name was not widely known outside that circle during his lifetime. As a result, very few journalists took the time to interview him, and press articles that record his words are rare. These interviews thus remain among the few sources available for understanding his creative process. I have also included interviews with his family and close associates, who also offer valuable insights into his life and work.

This page includes interviews with the following individuals:

Entrevistas a Héctor Germán Oesterheld

All of these interviews were found through many years of painstaking research work by Mariano Chinelli, a pioneer and expert on the life and work of Oesterheld. Some are still linked from his formidable ArchivoHGO, but many have gradually vanished from the web. That is why I have been collecting them from their original sources. The credit for having found them belongs entirely to Mariano.

Interviews with Elsa Sánchez de Oesterheld

Elsa´s testimony is important because she was the lone survivor after his husband (the author of The Eternaut) as well as their four daughters were kidnapped and murdered by the military junta during the 1970s.
